Iowa City Downtown District
From November of 2021, until June of 2022, I was named the Special Events Intern with the Iowa City Downtown District. ICDD is a non-profit organization with the goal of bringing life and diversity to the downtown Iowa City area.
I was working under the Director of Special Events and the Director of Creative Services planning, coordinating, and executing various events throughout the year. I learned various skills including updating websites, reaching out to businesses, creating and launching ticket sales, and promoting/marketing events.
The Celebration Farm
I am currently working for The Celebration Farm in Iowa City as an intern. The Celebration Farm is a collection of outdoor and indoor venues that have been charming guests since 2011. They primarily do weddings, but also host sorority formals, graduation parties, and celebrations of life.
I hold many roles as an intern with The Celebration Farm. I open, set-up, clean and assist, close, and tear-down. I am able to get a hands-on experience with the clients and get to see their dreams become a reality.
Event Management Workshop
During the Fall 2022 semester at the University of Iowa, I was enrolled in an "Event Management Workshop" class where we, as teams, worked with a local business professional to help them put on an event within the community. My team and I worked with Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa to put on their annual LUNAFEST event.
We were primarily responsible for reaching out to businesses to donate items to the silent auction. We also marketed the event and booked catering.

My name is Paige Stater
My name is Paige Stater and I am a junior at the University of Iowa. I am majoring in Communication Studies, minoring in Sport and Recreation Management, and earning a certificate in Event Management.
I am an outgoing, passionate individual who has a knack for working in events. For as long as I can remember, I have found joy in making people's visions and dreams come true. My goal for my professional career is to be an Events Coordinator where I can budget, plan, and execute events like weddings, parties, reunions, etc.
I spend the majority of the 2021-2022 school year and part of the summer with the Iowa City Downtown District as their Special Events Intern. I learned numerous skills regarding public, nonprofit events. I am currently an intern with The Celebration Farm where I help plan and execute smaller, specialized events.
I hope this experience will help me as I find a job and enter the real world as a young event planner!
